The world press was obviosuly amused by the fact that a British army Mascot goat with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers was demoted from lance corporal to fusiliers which is the equivalant of private.

The story was covered all over the world.

As a collector of British military postcards I have cards of all the current British army regiments and their mascots.

The goat and the Irish wolfhound are the most popular.
